COMPLETE GUIDE · BEFORE PRACTICE
Numbers, quantities, and prices
Use numbers with nouns. Match câți to masculine plurals and câte to feminine or neuter plurals. Ask a price here with Cât este ...? and answer with Prețul ... este ... .
One and two with nouns
Use un bilet, o carte, doi elevi, and două bilete. Neuter nouns take un in the singular and două in the plural.
Am două bilete.
I have two tickets.
Am o carte.
I have one book.
How many and how much?
Use Câți with masculine plurals such as elevi, and Câte with bilete or cărți. Ask a ticket price with Cât este biletul?
Câte bilete aveți?
How many tickets do you have?
Cât este biletul?
How much is the ticket?
Building larger numbers
Read 11–19 and the tens in the table. Join tens and units with și, as in douăzeci și unu (21). For a price say Prețul biletului este zece lei. One and two next to a noun depend on its gender.
Am douăzeci și unu de bilete.
I have twenty-one tickets.
Prețul biletului este zece lei.
The ticket price is ten lei.
